A technology- and culture-focused exhibition exploring the history, innovation, and cultural impact of footwear. Featuring nearly sixty shoes—from iconic designs and self-lacing sneakers to digitally designed, 3D-printed, and sustainably produced footwear—the exhibition explored how technology and design continue to shape the future of the sneaker. At Newfields, the traveling exhibition was adapted to create a more experiential, community-centered experience that connected the global story of footwear to the interests, creativity, and experiences of local audiences.
My Role
I led the interpretive and experience-development strategy for adapting the traveling exhibition to meet Newfields’ educational, engagement, and interpretive goals, with a focus on active learning and hands-on experiences. I guided the development of community connections, including the Share Your Shoe Story interactive, and led the strategy and development of the immersive 3D shoe-camera experience, which invited visitors to walk a runway and create their own videos. The experience generated record-breaking engagement and significant media attention. I also developed community partnerships, including a creative collaboration with local DJs who created a soundtrack for the exhibition and participated in related programming and engagement. I contributed to The Future Is Now: SneakerFest and led the creation of an impact video documenting the project and its community response.
